Rosa's Story (in her own words):
I am a 15 year old girl. I'm just starting to live, but I already have much pain in my heart. My mother, forced by poverty and hunger, went out of the country to look for work - to help us because we could not live with the little she made. It hurt her so much to leave us abandoned. We were left with relatives who lived a wild life. Because of this, they abused me with both punches and words, and they made me ingest drugs and also sell them.
I abandoned school, had bad friends, and I felt so lost that I felt the only way out was to take my life. In fact, I was close three times. One day, a good person had compassion for me and brought me to Mother Paula's place. The first few days it was difficult to adjust, but the love and understanding of everyone have helped me to finally feel happy.
What has really helped have been the prayers, and the praise songs that have healed my wounds and filled the void in my heart. Today I am in the fourth grade and I want to do something with my life to help other people that are in my old position.
I give thanks to God and those who have helped me.
